Super Bowl Recipes: Football Pretzels & Warm Beer Cheese Dip
As the Super Bowl approaches, be prepared with crowd-pleasing appetizers and snacks! Wow your guests with these recipes for delicious football soft pretzels and easy-to-make warm beer and cheese dip.
Football Soft Pretzels
Ingredients (for 6 footballs):
- 1 tube Pillsbury Classic Crust Pizza Dough
- Two 12 oz cans of beer
- 3 tablespoons baking soda
- Kosher salt
To start, preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Next, bring the baking soda and beer to a simmer in a large saucepan. Remove the pan from the heat.
Unroll the pizza dough on a cutting board and cut thin strips to form the shape of your football. For each ball, cut two long strips to form the outline, one long strip for down the middle, three short strips to lay across the middle strip, and two medium-sized strips for the ends. Before you shape your pretzel into a football, dip each piece into the warm beer mixture for 10 seconds. Flip each piece to its other side and dip for another 10 seconds. Use a slottled spoon to remove pieces.
Once all of your pieces have been dipped, it's time to make footballs! On your baking sheet lined with parchment paper, join the two long pieces to form the ball outline, then lay the long, middle piece down the middle, the three short pieces across the middle to form the ball's laces, and the medium-sized pieces across the ends of the football. Sprinkle with Kosher salt and bake for 9-11 minutes until golden brown.
