Engagement Party Cakes
Have your cake, and eat it too! An engagement party cake is a terrific way to celebrate the engagement of a special couple. Engagement party cakes can be as simple or as fancy as you'd like. Things to consider include the number of guests (for the size of the cake), where the cake will come from (local bakery or the venue), and of course the overall look and theme for the cake.
Here are some engagement party cake ideas to get you started:
- Bride and Groom Cake Pops: Cake pops are a fabulous dessert option for an engagement party. These bite-sized goodies do not require plates or cutlery, and look beautiful as part of a dessert bar. Ask your local bakery to create engagement party cake pops using a bride and groom theme. Choose the bride's favorite cake flavor for the cake pop filling. Your guests will love these whimsical and elegant desserts.
- Picture Cake: Choose a traditional cake and have the bakery include an edible picture of the bride and groom on the top of the cake. If the bride and groom have already chosen a color theme for the wedding, include the same colors in the cake decorations. For example, if the wedding theme colors are pink and silver, have the bakery decorate the cake with pink flowers, and a silver, edible, decorative pearl in the center of each flower.
- Hobby Cake: Do the future bride and groom have a joint hobby that they love to partake in together? An engagement party cake that revolves around this hobby is a fantastic way to help celebrate the engagement. For example, if the bride and groom enjoy snowboarding, order a cake in the shape of a snowboard. Put the cake on display at the engagement party and decorate the cake table with pictures of the happy couple snowboarding, ski passes and lift tickets from past trips.
- Surprise Cake: Ask both the bride and groom, separately, to choose an engagement party cake for one another. The groom may choose a cake in the shape of a key to express that his future bride holds the key to his heart. The bride may pick a cake in the shape of a fortune cookie, if the groom proposed at a Chinese food restaurant. Place the engagement party cakes on the same table at the engagement party. Have the future bride and groom stand next to the table and explain why they each chose the particular cake for one another.
