5 Apple Cocktails for Fall Parties

The fall season entails plenty of trips to the local apple orchard for fresh, crisp apples. Many times you end up with more apples than you know how to use! One use for all those apples: fall cocktails! Apples pair nicely with spices like cinnamon and cardamom, bourbons and whiskeys, and even other fruits such as pears. Here are five of our favorite fall cocktail recipes that feature apples.

Fall Apple Mojito

  • 1 oz. apple cider
  • 1 cup apple brandy
  • 2 apples, cut into chunks
  • 6 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 star anise 
  • 2 oz. apple cider Calvados mixture
  • 1 ½ oz. 10 cane rum
  • 5 mint leaves
  • 1 oz. simple sugar
  • 1 fresh squeezed lime
  • brown sugar 
  • ice cubes
For the apple cider Calvados mixture: heat over low flame for 30 minutes, strain and chill. Place mint leaves in bottom of shaker and muddle. Add simple sugar, lime juice, apple cider Calvados and rum. Fill with ice and shake. Rim a Tom Collins glass with brown sugar. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and mint sprig.

Apple Crush 

  • 1/2 oz. apple cider syrup
  • 2 oz. bourbon
  • 1 oz. seltzer
  • 1/2 oz. fresh lemon juice
  • apple slice 
Combine ice, apple cider syrup, lemon and bourbon in a cocktail shaker. Shake and strain into a lowball glass. Top with a splash of seltzer and an ice cube. Garnish with an apple slice.

Apple Cider Martini

  • 1 1/2 oz. white rum
  • 4 oz. apple cider
  • 1/2 oz. simple syrup
  • juice of 1/2 lime
  • dash of cinnamon
  • optional rim: 2 tablespoons of sugar + dash of cinnamon
Combine rum, apple cider, simple syrup, lime juice and cinnamon in a shaker with ice and shake. To make the sugar rim, wet the outside rim of the glass with a piece of lime. Combine sugar with a dash of cinnamon in a medium plate or wide-lipped bowl. Dip glass into the cinnamon sugar. Strain beverage into a chilled martini glass.

Smoky Apple Sour 

  • 1.5 oz. bourbon
  • 1/2 oz. sherry
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 oz. grilled lemon juice
  • 1 oz. smoked apple juice
  • apple slices
  • nutmeg
Combine all ingredients except apple slices in a shaker without ice. Shake for almost two minutes. Add ice and shake for another 20 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with apple slices and nutmeg.

Spicy Pumpkin & Apple Cocktail

  • 1 1/2 oz. pumpkin purée
  • 1 1/2 oz. vanilla vodka
  • 2 oz. apple cider
  • 1 1/2 oz. spicy ginger ale
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the pumpkin purée, vodka, and apple cider. Shake for 15 seconds. Strain into a glass filled with ice and top with ginger ale.
